Hmmmm? It could be the Southern Selway looking East at the Three Sisters. If so, Trapper would be about 20 Miles south. Most folks visit this desolate chunk of Paradise from the other side, up the West Fork of the Bitterroot.

I see rocks laying around, forground and in the distance.

My guess would be the rocky mountains.

If that's the case, I've been there and it's really nice. Good hunting, too.

I've hunted the southern half of Idaho for 60 years. That could be any of 1000's of places. In fact, it's very typical of much of the Rockies. That valley is glacial and you can see the morain at the bottom. A couple (or so) years ago, much of the northern Rockies was covered by glaciers and they created 1000's of these valleys as they receded.

Hey Wayne, where is this road at in the pic? I see something that may look like a road in the lower right hand corner just above the ear of the first pic.

Could be South Mtn. in the distance, the Seven Devils area, or at least a dozen or so other ranges and/or thousands of valleys.

Who knows where, that first picture looks photo cropped anyway.
In todays world not only can't you believe what you hear, what you see has a very high possibility of not being believable also.

One thing is certain that's a hellofa nice rack if it is real too:)

Where did the picture originate?
Is it a acquaintance of yours or did you find it on the net?
You state "it is not the Sawttooths". That is obvious, but there are mtns not that far from them that look a lot like those shown in the first picture.

So is it cheating to use others to identify an area you want to hunt? If the guy who took the picture didn't want you to know, maybe you should respect that. Don't mean to be an ass about that, but I'd be pissed if I showed off a nice buck and someone tried to ID the area on an internet forum. If you already recognized the area, that'd be one thing, but I'm thinking this crosses a moral line. Just my opinion, sorry.

Kinda what I have been thinking. Are we trying to find out where somebodies "Honey hole" is? Not pointing fingers or anything, just wondering.

I once knew a person in North Idaho whom I was lucky to find out what unit he hunted in let alone a location in that unit. When he asked me where I hunted he liked to know the drainage and would probably have liked to know what tree I stood by also. It was always a hoot to hear him try to guess where I was. laugh

The mountains in the first picture could possibly be the White Clouds but when I look at the picture looking towards the butt of the deer the background doesn't look like any place I have ever been in the Sawtooths which is where you would have to be to shoot a picture into the White Clouds to see them like that.

It is not the Lost River range, too many trees on them and they are not rugged enough. I have been over a good part of the back side of the Lost River range and it doesn't look like any place there either.

Possibly Central Idaho north of Challis towards the middle fork of the Salmon River.

But I have a feeling you are setting us up with this and it is probably some place 5 miles from town and a hundred foot from the highway.

When folks get tired of guessing let us know where it is, or at least the general area. As someone posted earlier there is a lot of Idaho that looks like the country in the pictures.

It might be around the Palisades area or Atlanta maybe.
