Atta boy Uncle Dusty!

I hit the river yesterday.... IN A BOAT! I loved every minute of it. It was the first time since August! Man it felt good, and it wasn't even my boat.

We froze, and fishing was slow, but it great to be back in the water.

Got one pretty nice walleye. 23".

Going to try to play hookie on Wednesday and hit the Fox River by Green Bay.

I hope you all had a good weekend. I'll check in later it's waaaaay too nice to be on the computer.

We have the same temp here Bill. I raked part of the front yard today. We played outside all day. Raked, played baseball, cleaned up around the yard a bit. All the normal spring stuff.

I'm going to wait a couple of days and let the lawn dry out better than I'll start raking. Cooked up some rib eyes and spuds on the grill tonight. Good eats!

the red zone on that board means they have to go back.

I'm glad I don't like fish ( except pike fixed Canadian Shore Lunch style...) or I'd be jealous...

Bet the water was cold enough for firm flesh..

OK, who am I kidding...I'm jealous! laugh

Awesome pics Dave. Those Pike have some heft to them. Are you using quick strike rigs?

Are the ice shacks off the lake for the season now?

Very cool weekend for the Chickenbuckers!

Nice pike Uncle Dusty! Well all you guys.

What did RWS think of catching that big fish?

Dave that live well is cool. How do you make it? Drill partial depth holes, then a full depth to get water, or is there enough water on the ice so you don't have to do it?

I didn't have to tap a hole all the way through, it filled with water well enough on it's own.

Ususally if I cut a livewell like that I drill one hole really close to all the way through then use the ice chissle to poke a hole through so it fills with water.

This weekend I drilled 6 holes in a row 3 holes wide with the 10" auger. I think I went about 15-16" deep then used the ice chissle to break it all open into one big tub.

I dropped my camera in that thing while I was chopping the center webbing out with the ice chissle. It took me about 3 minutes to find it in there too. My camera was under water for 3 minutes! shocked

I pulled the batteries & the SD card right away & got it drying. I turned the dash vents on in my truck with the fan on high & the heat cranked. Then I closed all but one vent so all the air was forced out a single dash vent. It was about like a hand dryier in a public restroom! I was able to rig the camera up so the air was blowing inside of it where you put the batteries in.

It worked! It dried out & the camera still works just fine.

Bill, yes the houses are off for good now. I also think we are probably done ice fishing, it's all really going to get rotten fast now.

And yes we use quick strikes, mostly home made ones.

Dusty makes a really nice quickstrike rig, way better than anything I've seen sold in stores.

Older dudes make good quick stike rigs.

Most of the serious musky hunters around here make thier own too.

My father in law has one he makes, much simpler than the store bought ones, and I haven't lost a fish with him on that rig yet. And you know....I can lose a fish. grin

Glad to hear you saved the camera Dave. Would have been an expensive trip if you had to replace it. Speaking of cameras I finally replaced my old one. Picked up a Canon Power Shot at Wally World. Color sucks, but I swallowed my pride and bought it because of the price.

Looks like an absolute blast dave! would make me nervous driving through all that water out there though. Lestifer drove out of springsteel and fished there for awhile and then drove all the way to 12mile. Poor day of fishing for him i guess.

It is a silly fish that is caught twice with the same bait!
