I have just purchased model 99 300. It is a take down model and has a marble # 834 front sight(maybe a jack sight in dovetail or mables irory bead in dovetail? hard to tell). The rear sight ia a King and pistol grip stock with fine checkering and same with the take down stock. Serial #285*** and is in good to great shape. I am not a collector so I don't know how to grade it. It also has the rotary(brass ) with the counter on it. What would you expect to pay for something like this?

Sounds like a model G to me, can't really guesstimate what value is without a description of the condition.

Like location is to real estate...condition is to Savage 99's. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
When it comes to choosing friends....I'm at an age where I'd rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.

Date of manufacture likely is 1926. As others have said need a detailed description or pictures for value.
