When you have a firearm shipped in from another dealer, how much does your Local Dealer charge to send a copy of his FFL?

Down here it used to be $15 bucks, but has now went to $25.

Not too bad I don't guess, I was just curious as to what others here usually have to pay.

I pay $30 bucks when I pick it up. He throws in a freebie now and then. One other guy that I have used charges $25 but is a way longer drive. Had another gun shop that is just down the street from my work quote me $50.

$15 for the 1st x-fer from that dealer, $10 for any subsequent x-fers. Fair rates, IMO.

I have paid between $25 and $50.

Frankly I don't mind paying the $50. Many small shops around here have gone under and I would guess that internet sales are part of the pressure they face. So if paying a few extra bucks helps keep them around its OK with me.

JM - I have a friend who charges me nothing. I try not to abuse his kindness. Another place I used to use to receive purchases was $25 last I knew. I have heard some pretty high numbers floating around recently, like $40. It's excessive. Just another form of gouging as far as I am concerned. At most the FFL holder has 30 minutes tied up in the whole transaction and the cost of a photocopy and stamp. And very often that FFL holder has a shop in which we spend money anyway. I make a real effort to support those who work with me and often will spend a little more for a can of powder or box of bullets or a cleaning brush to buy from them and will refer friends to them. I don't hesitate to buy a rifle from them and pay a bit of a premium if it's what I'm looking for and the price isn't just crazy.

The guy I have used for years is trying to get 10% of the sale price for a trasfer. I just make sure that people do not but anything with the purchase price in with the gun. That way he has no clue and can only charge what he used to and that was $35.

I guess I have it easy then.

I sure don't fault them for charging $25. I don't think I'd pay somebody $50 though.

It's basically a fax and a phone call. Logging the firearm in and out when you pick it up.

$20 for the transfer around here.

Easy money for the FFL since it takes all of 10 minutes to enter the gun into the Bound Book and call in the 4473.

My favorite gunshop asks me to tell everyone I know to use them for transfers because it gets people in the door and makes them a little money on the transfer as well.

Down south it's from 25.00 to as much as 75.00.....The guy who charges 75.00 has to receive from an ffl....Needless to say he doesn't get my business....

Smart guys at that gunshop. My local guy used to do it for free for the same reason, now charges $15.00 which is fine. A couple of times I gave him a $20.00 and told him to keep the change. The guy that USED to TRY to get $50.00 is now out of business. Was a grumpy old coot anyway, was quoted in the newspaper as being against gun shows! Good riddance for sure.

Guy I work with has gun shop on the side and has handled Xfer for me a couple of times. Last time will be the last because he quoted me $20 then it went to $35 when i recieved. I think it was accidental (he's almost 70), and the $35 wasn't out of line, I just hated the bait & switch.

$20 at a local pawn shop. They've handled probably 4 or 5 transfers by now and are always efficient and helpful. Once UPS screwed up the delivery to the store so they sent a guy down to the UPS center to personally pick it up.

Won't go through gun stores as the ones I talked to wanted anywhere from $50 to 10% of the purchase price. That was about 3-4 years ago and I have never called the gun stores back.

10% = wtf?! So I buy a $150 clunker and you make $15, I buy a $3000 custom and you make $300? I have two words for that, and they ain't "thank you". (well, the second word is "you")
