Mine doesn't kick all that much, I think my lighter stocked 30-06 with 220's and a regular pad kicks more than my 9.3x62 with 250's and a limbsaver pad @ 8lbs.

I've been very surprised it didn't punch me harder than it does, my 300 WSM had a nice sharp rap, maybe it's the limbsaver pad but the 9.3 seems to push a bit but it doesn't kill me much more than my 180's, and it's bothering me less than my 300WSM did.

Just wondering... I only load 250's, JimmyP asked me how hard mine kicked but I can't speak for the 286 grain rounds.

Not bad at all. Less than a 375 H&H for sure. But I am not a good judge because I can handle the hard kickers.

I use 58gr Varget & a 286gr in mine & it basically shoots 1 ragged hole.

My Ruger #1B is very close to my .375 H&H in recoil but then the latter is in a lighter package. Still not a punisher.

Certainly less than my 338WM shooting 210's.
I really like the way 93's handle, much like 30-06 recoil.

Mine 9.3 weighs about 8.5 and it's just a nice solid push, not snappy like a 300wm.

I have a 9.3X62 CZ550 full stock, which is light-ish and handy, and a CZ550 Magnum .375 H&H, which is neither light or handy. Comparing the two I find the 9.3 much more assertive on the shoulder in general!

One of the nice things about the 9.3X62, they do not seem to be abusive. I have a m/s with no scope that's pretty lite and it's a little sharp but certainly not bad. The CZ full stock with scope is quite a bit heavier and it's a pleasure to shoot.

My 550 FS 9.3 kicks a bit more than a 30-06 but is more pleasant than the average .300 Mag.

I shot a 550 LUX back to back with a SS Synthetic Savage in 30-06. 286 vs 180s. The Savage hurt, with its thin little stock, and I held a near MOA group at 150 yards with the 9.3, shooting over rolled up Carhartt's laid over the back of a four wheeler.

Shot a 550 .375 immediately after and that didn't hurt but it was a hell of a lot more than the 9.3.

Mine is built on a pre-64 Model 70 action with the barrel contoured very close to the Featherweight profile. In a refinished factory Fwt. stock, it weighs a little over 8 lbs scoped. Recoil with 250 ABs is about like my .338 WM with 225 A-Frames, but the recoil of the .338 is sharper (quicker?). It's a little more pop than I get with the same bullet in the 9.3x74R in the No. 1.

I don't know that this tells you a lot, as felt recoil is obviously a subjective thing...

Not bad at all. It's about the level of a 30-06.

I had a 700 ADL in 06 that was downright painful. My Model 70 9.3x62 with 250 TSX loads is much more pleasant.

Easy enough that I can shoot 25 or 30 rounds off the bench at a single session of load testing. smile

Glad this subject has come up. I am very recoil sensitive due to an injury and had many worries as to the recoil of the 9.3x62. The good news is it is very pleasant to shoot. The last few range sessions I have shot 30 or so rounds each session with zero problems. These loads were max loads both in the 250 and 286 recipes I have and was very pleased. But again recoil is a subjective thing, but because I am catious about recoil I can say in my case that it is very shootable. If I had to have a medium bore this is the cartridge I would choose 10/10 times especially over a 338 Win Mag. Good luck.
