We've had so much rain our rivers are all flooding over. It's raining now and there's more to come. A friend of mine said "this could ruin our trout season." He said the fish get into the flooded areas and as the water recedes they become land locked. I've never heard of such a thing. I figured in a river, they would seek out the moving water. What's up with that!

Yes it happens, when all the water recedes the trout that are left in pools turn to brown trout.

Are "brown trout" upside down trout?

Yup. Saw a sign posted beside the sewage treatment plant in Creede Colorado 2 years ago "new state record brown caught here". Couldn't believe all the tourists asking questions about it in local hardware store.

Those are very "brown" trout.
All kidding aside, there was a trout caught, by hand, on State Street in Salt Lake City during the massive floods of 1983. They had to divert City Creek down State Street. It was a wild spring.
