Tactical is between the ears, not a product.

Take a look at S&B PM's, Nightforce and Leupold Mrk's (the fixed power Mrk's) and you will get an idea.

A tactical scope obviously is the most expensive scope in the case!! I can not believe you did not know that. Just the word tactical makes it worth 30% to 50% more. If you do not believe this then just look at Leupold scopes. They add M1 tactical knobs to a VX-3 and vooohlaaah you have a tactical scope. And of course there is a 50% price increase. That is the one that really kills me. Tom.

It ususally has all the gadgets and fads known to man, but not necessarily the quality optics it needs.

I usually think "heavy, large objective, turrets".
The church is near, but the roads are icy. The pub is far away, but I will walk carefully.

Overbuilt, oversized, overpriced, and designed for a task 90% of them will never get used for.

Isn't it the type of scope where they put all the weird and wonderful dots, tracking devices, gps's and stadia wires in it so you have to turn a little light on to see through it,sounds gadgetty, gotta be good !!!!! I think I need one now, all I have to do is find some " tactics" now.

Russ a big Plus 1 I asked my ol' farmboy Dad if he thought about getting an AR....he thought for awhile and said "what would I do with it?" On the other boards though, there's talk of storming the Capital, so maybe the tactical mall-ninjas crowd can use their gear. I'll stick with my vanilla leupies, bolt guns and Ingram blades.

http://www.airmuseum.ca/web/0903.htmlCanadian Snipers in Afghanistan Read the article. . . then watch the VIDEO They never saw it coming. Canadian Sniper wiping out Taliban Snipers. In Afghanistan These video shots are not made through the shooter's telescopic sight. They are made looking through the spotter's scope. The spotter lies right next to the sniper and helps the sniper to find and home in on the target. The sniper is using a 50 caliber rifle. A 50 cal. round is about 7-8 inches long and the casing is about an inch in diameter. The bullet its self is one-half inch in diameter and roughly one and one-half inches long. Pay close attention to the beginning of the video. A Taliban is laying on top of the peak in front of you... when you hear the shot fired....watch what happens. The sniper is also about a half mile away... or more. A Canadian sniper in Afghanistan has been confirmed as hitting an enemy soldier at a range of 2,310 meters (7565 ft/1.43 miles), the longest recorded and confirmed sniper shot in history. The previous record of 2,250 meters (7369 ft/1.4 miles) was set by US Marine sniper Carlos Hathcock in Vietnam in 1967. The Canadian sniper was at an altitude of 8,500 feet and the target, across a valley, was at 9,000 feet. Canadian sniper units often operated in support of US infantry units, which were grateful for their help. The record lasted only one day, until a second Canadian sniper hit an enemy soldier at 2,400 meters (7860 feet/1.48 miles). The Canadian snipers fire special 50-caliber McMillan tactical rifles, which are bolt-action weapons with five round magazines. The Canadian snipers were the only Canadian troops operating without helmets or flak jackets as they had too much other equipment to carry. Each three-man team has one sniper rifle, three standard rifles Canadian (C7s), one of them with a 40mm grenade launcher. Just like shooten woodchucks back home. Dont see to many Leupolds used for this type of work. They just dont hole up. Canadians run Nightforce scopes on there 50s. dave

That's the biggest pile of hokum on the web. If you think any rifle, .50 or not, is going to make a human body fly through the air like that at any range I've got a bridge to sell you right away.
