I just took a browning A bolt ss stalker w/ the boss system in on a trade... My question to you folks is should i keep it and work up loads.. I'm not sure what i would use it for i have a 7mm rum that i use for deer a 300 rum for elk and a 25/06 and 243 for just because.... If anyone can tell me about the round would be great...Thanks

Look in the Nosler Manual on loads. I shot the 160g Sierra BTSP at 2950 out of a 24" barrel before I traded it off. Deer never took a step with this load, when shot at any angle or distance.

I've had real good luck with the 162 AMAX using RL-22 for a little over 3000.
Have to look up the particulars... I've slept since then! FWIW

I believe R22 is THE powder for the 280AI.

I gave RL17 a try with 140 grain AB and got around 3200 with a max charge 60 grains was a little hot and 59 was just right. I am going to try the 154grn SST next and see what it will do.

That 154gr SST looks like it could be a nice deer bullet. The BC is .530 and they are relatively cheap.
Now with even more aplomb

Shot my son's .280AI with 140 gr Noslers, and Varget powder. You could cover the 3 shot group @ 100yds with a penny, just see the edge of 2 holes using a dime. I think that is good enough.
