Is there a way to tell the date of a USRAC built model 70 by serial number or have these never been released?

Blue Book has posted the USRAC range through 1991 and others have kept lists of individual rifles through the end of USRAC production, allowing some decent approximations. The posters here on the Fire that collect M70's can get you close.

Call Winchester customer service and they'll tell you the basics (model and date).

+1 I've done it several times with Pre 64's and various Classic models to find out what year they were manufactured in.

None of this works with the "G" serial numbered rifles. Wondered if there was another way.

I've never found any source that helps with anything made since the 80's. The oldguns website is OK for old guns. I have a couple that I'm curious about. Since FN is now running things I wonder if they will have info on the 80's and 90's Winchesters if I call.
