I'm finishing a laminate stock with a spray can of polyeurathane satin. (From Brownells, but not their brand.) I've got a couple sags and runs. I'm planning on going after it with 000 steel wool. Any suggestions?

PS The next stock I do is getting hand-rubbed with Tru Oil.

The only "fix" is to sand them out. Let the finish cure for a few days, use new 220 grit backed by a wood block. You want to "cut away" the high spots- steel wool will just round them over. Sand the entire stock with 320 grit, tack, and re-coat. 5 or 6 light coats will get you a nicer finish than trying to "git'r done" in two.

YMMV

For big drips use a razor to trim them off, sand lightly and then re-coat.

Throw away that steel wool, it just causes trouble.

If you are lucky, you can savage a refinish job while the finish is still wet. Make a circle with masking tape with the sticky side out, and try to pull out the sag when it is still wet.

If your finish dries with the curtain in place, your only option is to WET SAND it out, using a BLOCK, after the finished has cured enough that it will sand, rather than gum up on the wet/dry paper.
