Randy Lawson does all my custom work. so far, they've done a 7x57 on an FN mauser, a .280 Rem. on a 1909 Argentine mauser and a .308 Win. on a 1909 by Oberndorf. The fist tw are sub-MOA rifles and the lateer is a recently finsihed rifle that I'm still working up loads for. Even so, groups so far are only slightly more than one inch. All mive are done on classic style stocks although one Lawson rifle is on their trademark thumbhole, a rifle I've had for over 12 years. it's also a .308 that was an experiment based on a 191 Steyr mauser action with a super ultra lightweight barrel and their very lightest weight thumbhole stock. Total weight is 5 pounds ever with scope, sling and a full magazine. Due to the very light weight, about the best I can get out of it is 1.5". It's more of a novelty as I don't shoot it much any more. I think it might need rebedding anyway which is something I will get around to one of these days.
I bought a butchered Ruger #1 that somebody tried to make into a custom gun where they installed a Remington M7 barrel in .223 Rem. damn thing never shot worth spit so I had Lawson put on another Rem. 7 barrel they had on hand and now the rifle is a decent shooter that I use for a walkabout gun.
Will I be giving them any more work? You bet. He ain't cheap but the work is well done.
I'd be very surprised if your rifle turned out to be a bad shooter. Anyway, that's my opinion of their work. BTW, Harry lawson has ben dead for some years now. His son Randy runs the business and does the stock work. His partner Joe does the metal work and he is extremely anal about doing it right.
