My this weeks pawn shop pick up, the metal is 95% & the wood 75%. 20" barrel, straight stock, new safety. If it's not rare I may make it a 375 winchester.

I just put a tape measure to it & it has a 18" barrel, so I guess it's a late Texan.

The TS stands for Texan with a CBS ... made after 1983. Take the first 2 number from the serial number and subtract from 100. Very sought after model given the 18.5" barrel. They are one the most well balanced Marlin produced. Enjoy yours.

I'm not sure I'd call it rare, but the 18.5" barrels are far from common. I really like the straight grip Marlins and have several of them. All of mine are 20" barrels. I usually see 2-3 of the 20" versions each year in gunshops or gunshows. I've only seen 2 with the 18.5" barrel and would love to have one. I had 1 about 15 years ago and let it go like a fool.

I just got a 30TK off the forum here, can't wait to receive it and the Ranch Dog TLC311-165RF mold it deserves. If it does not shoot well it may become a 35 or 375 too.

I have a 1982 336T (without the safety) that was re-bored to 38-55 and love it. I really like the handling of the short gun with the straight stock. I enjoyed hunting with it this past season. I mostly have shot 255gr Barnes Originals in it. You should enjoy that rifle a lot. Goat

I have a 336T that shoots great but is a little finicky as to what ammo it prefers. It loves Federal and Winchester 150 gr SP but is not near as fond of LeverEvolution ammo.
