The gun comes with the stainless weaver style rails but does Talley make a light weight for the A7?

Talley does make LW's for the A7. I put a set on my A7 and they work great. I've also recently pulled the scopes off of two rifles fitted with Talley LW's and both scopes appeared to be new(zero ring marks).

The A7 is tapped the same as the Browning A bolt, so anything that will fit the Browning will fit the A7

Bob, Does that mean, I could put a full lenght Picatinny rail(EGW) built for Browning on my A-7 30-06?

Sako says they're drilled the same as the A-Bolt, so I imagine it should work

Thanks Bob.I'll look into it. Also need to find out whether ejection is effected by the rail.

When I called Talley they verified that the A-Bolt will work and that LOW's should be fine with a Zeiss 3-9x40

Two piece Browning bases will fit the A7. Hole spacing is o.86" on both front and rear on both rifles. However, Browning's 4th hole from the rear 1st is roughly 0.1" longer. 5.58" on Browning and 5.48 on the A7. I've got Browning's hole spacings from EGW's and Ken Farrel's catalog. Are my measurements wrong?

If you have no need for changing back and forth between different scopes, the LW Talley rings appear to be the perfect scope mounts in keeping with the overall simple and light package of the A7. I'm in need of a walking rifle for calling coyotes that can double for deer. Thinking I'll go pick up an A7 in 243 Win and go the LW Talley route. I wonder if a Leupold VX-II 3-9x40 would be too bulky for the trim size of the rifle.
pigster, I was thinking the front mount to rear mount spacing on the A7 may differ from the A-Bolt, even though they share the same individual hole spacing of each mount. Could be wrong, but I thought the two piece mounts worked whereas the one piece mounts did not.

Perhaps some other A7 owners could measure it and come to a settling conclusion.
