I was looking through the most recent Barnes book the other day and noticed that the 6.5 Swede info was fairly tame when compared to the other manuals. I assume this is to accommodate the older rifles. Am I imagining things? Any pet TSX 120gr loads out there?

I have found that RL-19 works great in my 6.5x55. Nosler manual calls a Max at 48.5 grains although I have great groups at 47 grn. with my Tikka T3 using a 120 grn Barnes TSX. Dumped a 250 lb Mule deer at 150 yds took two steps, engine room was jello.

Handloader #228 has a load for the 120 X bullet (not the later TSX) that uses 49gr of RL19 to get 2940 shocked out of a 22" tube.

The 120 TSX load in Barnes 4 that uses 51gr of MagPro to get 2814 is also good.

My Ruger likes Noslers recommended load of 48.5grs of R19 and its 120gr. BT. I'll bet the 120 Barnes would shoot good too.

When I started my research for a cartridge for mainly deer, I was thumbing the Nosler #4 manual and the Swede jumped out for its versatility with varying bullet weights.

I'm glad to see the Barnes manual is conservative. Everything I've ever shot with these bullets doesn't tend to go far and I really think the cartridge shines for deer with the 120gr. Glad to see there are some more realistic load out there than listed in the Barnes manual.

Thanks for the info.
