Thought my upcoming 7mm-08 would be wrapped in a McMillan stock, but I'm going to dig this instead. New Featherweight stainless model (6 lbs. 8 oz.). What took them so long?

Huh, that's news... they used to offer them this way some years back, then dropped the SS SA.

Damn Winchester, put it up in a .358 Win, and you would finally have a .35 that would move the sales needle. CP.

Happy New Year gang.

Damn, thats what I'm talking about!!!!! It's beautiful! What calibers do they offer? CZ-USA makes a stainless walnut model 3 thats every bit as purdy. The avilabality of the CZ might become a problem. The CZ only comes in 270,7mm,and 300wsm's. I have always loved the feather weight stock. I'm gonna go put one of these on lay-away if they ofer a caliber I like!! Thanks for the photo!!!!!!!!!!!

I just downloaded their 05 cataog. One interesting observation with the featherweight. The 308 weighs 6 1/2 lbs while the 30-06 weighs 7 1/4 lbs. Same barrel length. I know a short action is slighly less in weight, but 3/4 lb? What gives?

JAB, I was wondering about the weights, too, but in a little different vein. Just a few days ago they listed the short action Fwts. at 7 lbs. Now its 1/1/05 and they're shown at 6 1/2. Where'd the other 1/2 lb. go? Or did they weigh 6 1/2 all along? Been looking for another Swede but I'd like to know about the weight. The only way I can readily see they'd shed 1/2 lb. would be to change the barrel contour. Anybody else got any thoughts? In any event having the stainless option is a plus. Thanks.

I'd like to see it offered with a detachable mag like they did briefly in the early '90s. And for icing on the cake, offer it chambered in .284 Win. With those two options they'd get my money without hesitation. Bill

Do you suppose the action is long enough for a 9.3x57? If so, I might have to get one and rebarrel it...
Guess I'll have to check the COL and magazine length.

As one poster previosuly noted, this style was made for about two years back in the 90s. I collect them. I notice the majority of the new ones are in those umm "short-ugly-fat" calibers. Oh well. They're still beautiful rifles though. jorge

It also appears that most of the remaining models that didn't get the one-piece floorplate assembly last year has went that route this year. I got two rifles that I got from last year ('04) that had the one-piece floor plate. Here's the Super Grade III, looking good as ever:

I see they offer a blued version for us lefties. That ain't too bad, although stainless would be better.

I have a couple of the stainless, wood stocked featherwieghts that they offered a couple of years ago. I always liked the look of the Featherwights but the stainless/wood version is definatly the best looking of them. Currently I have a .308, .300 WinMag, and a .22/250 with a boss on it. If they would make one in .358 I would just have to have another one.

That is awesome... Are these out (on shelves) now or will we wait indefinitely for them?
