Your rifle is a beauty! I love the Bob but they aren't the easiest to load for in my experience. But mine are Rugers.
If the boat tail bullets don't group well, try Hdy. Interloc Flat Base bullets or Nosler NBT's. I have always had accuracy trouble with boat tails in the smaller calibers but the Sierra boat tails shoot great in my 270's. Brimfish

Book data is weak.
I load 44 grains of H4350/Rem brass for my 84M Roberts. Not a problem whatsoever,YMMV. I have a tang safety, standard Ruger M-77 and a tang safety Ultra Light, in 257 Roberts. I'm loading 44.5 grains of H-4350 with 115 grain Accubonds, in both rifles.

110gr Accubonds or 115gr Ballistic Tips? Not that 5gr of lead makes a huge difference in powder charge. I'm planning on H4350 and 115gr Partitions.
Now with even more aplomb

That's a classy little rifle!
Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!

Who did your gunsmithing (In Texas?)? I have a pre 64 action that was .243 and I've been thinking about the 257!!
Neat looking rifle... Classic. The loons, can you hear the loons?

Nice gun. I really like the short action Winnies myself, but never put one together in a Bob.
I don't like the very short forend on the Compact Classic though myself.

Well, since a few were kind enough to ask: 1st trip to the range was with 117gr Hornady BT's and IMR4350; from 43gr to 44.5gr in 1/2gr increments. Groups were from 1.45" to 2".
Since so many 24CFer's love the 100gr Hornady, I decided to try it next, even though I prefer the heavier bullets in the Bob.
the lighter Hornady did shoot better. 46 and 46.5 gr (IMR4350) produced groups of about 1.2" Will try to fine tune that combo. But will also try some 117gr Sierra PH's.

Just picked her up. Nice rifle. Mine looks just about the same, except for the 1:9 Pac-nor barrel and 2.5-8 VXIII, and its .250AI chambering. Sweet handling package.

I shot my 257R this am. It's a re-barrelled Montana 1977, it has Pac Nor tube now. My favorite load is H4350 and the 115 Nos.BT. I have a 6mm.Rem so I see no need to load 100gr bullets in a .257. Good luck with that fine looking rig.
