How many of you keep the front sight hood on your rimfire lever?

I typically leave the front sight hood on, but it is merely a personal preference. I grew up shooting small bore 3-position, so I like round front sights. The round hoods on my .22s work that way for me. I also replace the bead front sights with square posts, but again, that is just me. Do whatever works for you.

I have a scrounge box, filled with dozens of sight hoods I removed from my rilfes as soon as I got them home. The only sight hoods that ever make it out of the box go back onto rifles I may occasionally sell - to satisfy the insatiable craving of those who won't consider a rifle whole w/o one. .

I really need 3 of the early Marlin sight hoods. I consider a rifle incomplete without them.

Depends on how careful a guy is abut his sights. I got one brother in-law that needs to have me weld a steel mail box on his barrels he just no how to bend or break front sights, till I have given up.

They block out too much of the target for me. Might work OK, in fact probably does work great for target shooting, but for game hunting, just in the way.

I'm finding the more I shoot my 9422, the less I like the hood. Thanks for your input.

I keep the hood on my 39A, off the 444. Not sure why, just "feels" betterer.

I had a nickel plated front sight hood put on my XLR and it has a small cutout on top to let sunlight in for my WIlliams Firesight. Would not own a levergun without one.
That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

I have peep rear sights on my two Marlin 39's and remove the hood to see the front sight better. the brass dot just doesn't show well for me under the hood.
