I tend to dote on Makers as well, but if I feel like a reasonably priced non-bourbon whiskey, then Crown Royal never disappoints

Ain't nothing wrong with Makers Mark, especially when being frugal. For the money Buffalo Trace is very good. If money isn't an issue I would go Booker's or Knob Creek. I've never had the pleasure to sample Woodford Reserve but I hear good things about it. I haven't tried 'em all but I'm working on it.

I love Makers and drink it often. Bur Jack Daniels Black is cheaper and tastes almost as good. I go through a 1.75 liter bottle of whatever every 3 weeks, so cheaper is better!

whiskey and burbon tastes seem to vary a good bit. I really don't like Maker's Mark at all. Much prefer any of the following:
Woodsford Reserve Knob Creek Gentleman Jack Jack Single Barrel Jim Beam Black

+1 . Woodford is damn good, as well. Worth a try, if you like KC. Jeff

I'll take Wild Turkey 101 over Maker's Mark, but both are very fine.

A guy I didn't really know bought me a bottle of Jefferson Reserve for doing him a favor. About a week later I had to cuss him for getting me hooked on something else expensive. It's the best bourbon I've ever tasted. I've drank jack daniels for more years than i care to remember and although other bourbons tasted good[woodford reserve especially] they never had a chance to replace jack. I really like Jefferson neat.

Maker's Mark is pretty fine, and Knob Creek or Bushmills "Black Bush" is a little finer.

Have you ever noticed that shelf level reflects quality/price? The cheap stuff (both meanings) is on the bottom shelf. Next one up is better, the third shelf is premium, and the fourth shelf (if there is one) is the high-end. Always. (And wouldn't it bring tears if that top shelf broke? Wow.)
Find what you've been drinking and try something on the next shelf up.
