Does anyone have a good load for the 375 H&H launching the 260gr Nosler Partition?

I was thinking 78gr of IMR 4350 behind it? Open to any suggestions though!

given the distances these bears are reported to be shot at in typical fashion, I would think a 300 gr partition at 24-2500 fps may give sterling results versus the speed you could get with the 260 which might be an attractive option for longer range shooting.

I've put a few Interlocked into bears with the 375 and other things, enough to understand, I think, that the difference between failure with a 260 Partition where a 300 Partition worked out well would be saying a whole lot more about the shooter than anything else.

Oh, and nothing wrong with 4350, any of them, or RL15 or H414/W760 either.

I've used the old screw machine 270 gr Partition and the 250 gr Bitterroot on brown bear and it looked like a train wreck both times...so I can't imagine the 260 Partition would be anything but "good"....or "bad" if you're the bear

I used them with R15 if I recall right and or H4350, seems to me both worked well with the 260 NPT.

Never shot a bear with it but did nuke some lopes, carp deer and yotes. It was adequate I guess....grin

Never used the Partition, but have shot a bit of American game (elk) and African stuff with the 260 AccuBond which JB says is essentially the same thing. Worked well for me. Used 69.0 grains of RL-15 for my Africa loads and 71.0 grains for Colorado and New Mexico elk. R-P brass and CCI Magnum primers.

Ditto what Dober says about H4350 and RL15. I use 15 with the 250 gr bullets,and 4350 when I get to 270 and up.....(why do I do that anyway?

If I felt like experimenting,I would look real hard at R17....

I am just starting with the .375 H*H and have read so much my eyeballs don't work anymore sifting through some internet..well..Net.

An answer to your question is,Murphy(mod) on the Alaskan forums uses 73 grains of RL-15 for 2800 fps (24" barrel)as his long range Moose round with the 260 Partition.He prefers the 300 A-Frame for Brown Bears.

I have 100 260 grain Accubonds and plan on using RL-15 in the 71-73 grain range and wonder if I even need the 260 Partition,and I am a huge/loyal fan?

I know my dad has a 300 gr a frame recipe to use for moose this fall in maine. last year i used 300 gr hornady interlocks at 2370 but never shot anything with them.

The 260 AccuBond is a very good bullet. It will penetrate VERY deeply, and expand easily as well. Usually it's very accurate, particularly with RL-15.

69 grains RL 15 works great with the 260 Nosler. My favorite with the 260.

WOW! I love it! Screw machine Noslers and Bitterroots! I still have and shoot some old .375 Partitions, but in 300 gr. But alas, I've shot up all my old Bitterroots. Can you imagine any two bullets that were more of a true traiblazer than the early Nosler or the bonded Bitterroot? Perhaps the Barnes monometal.....

I4350 and RL15 are my favorite powders with that bullet; I really like the RL15 best.

Depending upon your magazine length, you may not be able to get enough 4350 into your case to acheive maximum velocity while seating either a 260 AB or a 270TSX without bulging a case. For this reason, for these bullets, I use 71gr RL 15.

I have been running 77 grains of IMR 4350 behind a AccuBond 260gr.
78.5 was the max. in my Remington.

Dawaba: Well I am a bit gray haired but not too paunchy...but I have been thinner You probably remember a point in time when Nosler stopped making the 375 bullets at all;when they went from screw machine to extruded manufacture...IIRC the 80's...

The only real premie out there in 375 was the Bitterroot. We got some BBC's,but along the way a buddy found a stash of screw machine Partitions in 270 and 300 gr weightfrom a uy who hunted India and Africa,about 700 of them IIRC.We bought them all at a buck each,and split them up.

Meantime we were gathering in BBC's as Steigers made them.So I used the 270 gr on my first Brown Bear hunt,and the BBC's on my second.Both worked to perfection;big wounds and big exits.


I still have several hundred 270-130 gr screw machine Partitions and one 270 that dotes on them.I also still have BBC's in various calibers and hunt with those as well.

I have been using the 270 grain Woodleigh for a number of years with perfect success. I haven't used Nosler anything since they got rid of the screw machines. Copper works so much better for bullet jackets than the crap they use nowadays. 76 grains of 4350 is my load for every thing in the .375H&H. I love this load because it works so well, and shoots like my .30-06 load with the 180 grains using the same brand of bullet. Oddly I use the same powder in both. But then I have shot a lot of moose and bear both here in Alaska with these bullets and two ctgs.


By the way I sent a letter of protest to John Nosler in 1976 when they got rid of the old screw machines and their bullets began blowing up with slight penetration,this not all copper jackets?
