Congratulations on the graduation!
Linda and I had a great time at Myrtle Beach.Went fishing on the pier one of the days but caught nothing worth keeping.
I too am looking forward to seeing pictures of the Mustang when you get it painted.

We went to something very special today too. My daughter's school had a Memorial Day program. They recognized all the vets of students and teachers. The third graders read about all the hero's from the other students. They showed a video not unlike the link Dave posted up and there was not a dry eye in the place.

Then they honored Zachery Ryan, a local HERO that lost his life in Iraq in 2003. His daughter is a student in 1st grade at the school.

It made me VERY proud to be an American.

I tried to shake hands and say thanks to as many of the men and women there that I could, but they had to leave.

So thanks to all the vets that read this forum. That includes Dave, Ryan, and Bill. Sorry I don't know all the others.

Good job little man!!

I am out of order until further notice. My "stupid people" filter needs cleaning and my "give a damn" batteries have run out.

Very cool Tom, I attended a program like that right after I got out at the school my mom teaches at, first time for me and they had veterans there from WW2 through now, even had some active duty moms and dads there from Ft Carson. had one of those videos too and after it they had all the vets stand and be recognized. it was really cool to be a part of.

I like to hear about school programs like that. I got roped into one of those years back when I was still thin enough to fit into my boot camp issued dress blues. A local retired Army officer and myself carried the colors for a mix of local VFW and American legion members young and old that marched through town to the school where they put together a very nice program.

Here I found a photo to scan. Pam didn't center the picture very well lol!

Growing up in small town america back in the 50's Memorial Day was a big event. There was a big parade which ended back at the court house square. An honor guard from the legion fired a 21 gun salute and all of us kids scrambled to pick up the brass when they were done.

A big salute to all the vets on the campfire as well as the men and women currently serving our counry.

That sounds exactly what we watched Ryan. One of the teachers had his grandpa there, he was a WWII vet. Got a huge appluse, rightfully so.

WI might be tax hell and democrat in the big cities, but where we live is not unlike you and Dave, farm country, and common sense Americans.

Cool Dave. You look like your about 19 in that pic. They had the Boy Scouts in the school carry the colors.

If the Vets had their uni's, (or fit in em) they wore them to the program. I was impressed all the way around.

Ok, gotta calm down. Geez you'd think it was my car or something. HA! Had to run in and fill you all in on the car progress. grin

Tomorrow I shoot for the polyester primer surfacer, block it all out and also prep the hood, trunk lid & valances.

No rest for the wicked.

Serious progress being made there Dave.

Went to a cook out Sunday about an hour South of home. Tent caterpillars were dropping out of the trees like crazy. Had to pick off a few ticks too.

Happy Memorial Day everyone!

Went fishing today, not the best of days on the water. Everything that could go wrong, did. We did get our 4 smaller "slot" walleyes though.

Granps fell in the lake, trying to get in, we lost an anchor, gramps' lines are all rat nested up in the Zebco's. grin

We called it a day at 9:30. laugh

I did get a 6hp Johnson 2stroke from Betsy's step-dad tho. I'm going to use it as a kicker on the Alumacraft.

Shaw house...Can't wait to see the mustang!

So what really happened was that Tom handed gramps the anchor and gave him a little nudge. laugh

Naw... It was my wife's step-dad. He climbed into the little 14' and she started to rock and over he went. I thought he got hurt but just his pride.
