What are some of your staple and/or favorite foods to take on your 5+ day bivvy hunts? This could be determined by space or weight or other benefits.

Mountain house for dinners. Most flavors are good enough, but some are too much trouble (chicken breast & mashed potatoes). Lunches are Peanut Butter and honey on either tortillas, bread, or bagels. Breakfasts are oatmeal.

MRE's for dinners(yeah, funny, I know), Power bars, cheese, jerky, etc. for lunches, oatmeal for breakfast. Gatorade or Accelerade for drinks, along with a flask for ahh, er, medicinal purposes.

Like 340, I'll do the MRE thing if I'm only going for a few nights or if water's scarce. One thing I don't leave without is a big bag of Atomic Fireballs (aka Power Pills)!! They'll get you up about any hill!

Another way to do sheep backstrap....run a sharp green willow through them and roast on coals...eat it like corn on the cob..

What has been said plus rat cheese, salmon from like Chicken of the Sea, onions keep well and add a fresh flavor to meals.
Have a few easy to keep treats, makes a BIG difference at the end of a week. Liquor comes in small plastic bottles, nice to celebrate a hunt.
Lastly, Junior Mints add a lot to Hot Chocolat.

Sounds like a good menu. One of the things I like the best about backpacking is how good food tastes during, as well as after the trip.

Add: Cheese and crackers (to go with the jerky) Coffe Nips Fun size snickers in pant cargo pocket to start the morning (great half way up a 3,000 morning ascent).
