I'm looking at Snowpeak and other titanium cups for a Father's Day present for me.
It will be kept in my pack at all times with a small alcohol or pocket stove and mainly be used for coffee, tea and heating water for dehydrated meals in a pinch.
I know I will have to have a single-wall if I intend to use it to boil/heat water if necessary.
Is the 600ML size big enough or shoudl I go for the 700ML?
Out of the following which would you recommend and why?

http://www.backcountrygear.com/catalog/accessdetail.cfm/SN3320
http://www.backcountrygear.com/catalog/Stovedetail.cfm/SN2425
http://www.backcountrygear.com/catalog/accessdetail.cfm/SN910

Any other suggestions and other places to buy titanium on the cheap?
I have some LL Bean coupons that I can use to get the 600ML Hotlips above. It holds 20oz and most dehydrated meals need 2 cups (16oz) of boiling water. Do you think I can boil 16oz of water in a 20oz cup without making a mess.

Thanks for any advice. I've been backpacking for years but am to the age where I am trying to lighten my load so that hunting and hiking is more enjoyable.

I like the Snow Peak 20 oz Double Wall. I also have several single walls to choose from if I'm really counting grams to go as light as possible.

I really like the snow peak 600 mL cups with the hot lips on them. Got one for my wife and myself. Can even throw them on the a stove to boil water if needed.

So you're saying the 20 oz is a good size?
I was under the impression that I could not heat water with a double wall. Do you think I could boil 16 oz of water in a 20oz single wall?
Thanks Ed!

That's what I am looking to hear.
Thanks!

Anybody else have a good source to buy these?
What other titanium pots, cups, utensils do you guys use?

No heating in a double wall cup, bad idea on a few levels. Also, I prefer the 900 size for boiling 16 oz of water. 600 would work for heating it, but not for a sustained boil.

Yep, wouldn't want to create a rolling boil long with a 600 mL cup.

I just picked up a Snowpeak 700 from a member here. It's big enough to boil 16 oz./.5l. I wanted something I could use as a cup/mug and also eat from. It took a little longer to bring to a boil than a tea kettle I have but was still able to do so well within the burn time of my super cat alky stove.

Since your mainly looking for drinks and only the occasional meal I would shoot for a 600 (20oz), Evernew, snowpeak, and montbell all make one in that size.

I like the Mont-Bell 20 single wall for cooking/drinking. And liek everyone said, no cooking in a double wall.

I have a 600 Snowpeak Ti mug (single wall) and have no problems boiling 16oz (2 cups), one just turns the flame down on the Giga when it starts to boil. I carry a small piece of triple folded tinfoil for a lid. I like the 600's size - stove, fuel & 600 mug fits nice and neat as a unit in most pack's side pouches.

That 700 nearly runs over with a Knorr meal and a pack/can of chicken. If you freezer bag cook though, the 600 might be all you need, since you won't be eating out of the pot. A lot of the UL hikers do that, as long as your meals don't need more than 14oz or so of boiling water.

Man, that sounds good! Recipe?
I do quite a bit of couscous with canned chicken and Rotel.
I put it in a ziploc bag before I head out then just add the olive oil when I add the hot water.

Because I know someone is going to ask:

That is my favorite pot. IIRC, it is lighter than the 700 'cause the lid on the 700 is steel.

I like the Snow Peak Trek 900 as it comes with a pot and a frypan, will store a bush buddy stove, and many others inside it, and is great quality imo.

A Trek 900 is great once you throw that silly fry pan away and order a proper lid from 4 dog.
