I thinking about this one. Couldn't find anything on the search feature, sure it's been discussed in the past. What can you tell me about this model. Sig's in general that kind of thing.

Top of the line handgun. Nothing more to add. You can never go wrong getting a Sig. Very user friendly tools.

At one with the gun.

Sigs are great guns, for me the 226 grip is a little big but the ergonomics and accuracy are first rate.

I'm in the process of replacing all my Glocks with Sigs..I have had Sigs all my life and still wonder how I got away from them. The are a little heavier than the Glocks, but the quality is so much better. .02

Funny, I will sell my Glock 17 when this p229 is bought. Shame too, cause you lose lots of money in the deal. May have to take the Glock to a gun show to sell. May keep it for a while or give it to one of my kids.
I'm looking to just move up a little.
So far I really like the feel of the P226 in my hand, it fits.

The grip is what I liked so much, kind of fit the old hand.

Sig are great pistols and i like my P239, but much better than a Glock i don't think so. The only thing i know more dependable than a Glock is having to pay Taxes every year.

I'm not bashing Glocks... I just think Sigs are a little bit better in terms of fit and finish.

I have both a German made P226 and the newer Blackwater P226.

The German made is hands down my best pistol ever, 100% reliable with everything I feed (almost 8,000 rounds) and very accurate. I also have my wife shoot it with the 22 conversion. It's just great.

I've been slower to warm with the Blackwater (New hampshire made). The accuracy isn't that great and I've had the slide consistently fail to lock open on the last round. I only have about 300 rounds through it, but if I still have issues after another 300, I'll be sending it back for repair. Even though the Blackwater has the new SRT trigger, I like the German trigger better.

I have an older P230 and it is also flawless. Sitting in my wasteband as I type. It feels like an extension of your hand, when you point it.

I have a number of sigs, the first was a 220, then a number of the german police tradein's the P-6.
My daughter who does shoot, but not that often, took a p-6 with wolfe ammo and was routinely making shotshell casings dance at about ten yards. That should say something.

I own one in 357. Fantastic piece, it's my "nightstand gun." Not a 1911 mind you smile but still one hell of a pistol. jorge

I have never owned a Sig, but have put a few rounds through a P229.
Nice, to say the least.
A P229 in 357 Sig would be fun...

Well I have several Sig Sauers in P-229, P-226, P-239 and the wife too has a P-239 with a spring kit installed. They are top of the line pistols. You must get used to the de-cocking lever on the pistol~!!!

However, I would carry the Sig instead of my Glocks but Sig does not make a 10mm caliber and that caliber is one heck of a round for CCW. Now as was mentioned by another poster: "Nothing is as dependable as a GLOCK....except your taxes........Amen!

Been out of town and away from a computer.
I do really appreciate all the feedback. We all have our favorites. I just really thought I would like this Glock better, first one for me. I have shot a Sig in 45 ACP some.
So to me it's worth a try, much more expensive for sure. I like the looks of the pistol, feels good in my hand and I have lots of 9 ammo. If trade in on the Glock is not enough, I'll just keep it for one of my boys in the future.

Have had several Sigs, now a P226 in 357 Sig and a barrel in 40 S&W; pounds of lead & copper down range without a hiccup. Have the laser grips which with a rest give you some idea of the very good accuracy potential...which is very, very good. It stays close!

I have lots and lots of handguns ... but have never owned a Sig or a Glock.

One handgun that I have always 'coveted' however, is the SIG-210.

You're not going to go wrong, nor feel at all bad, in buying that Sig. If it fits you, you're good-to-go! laugh

Sig 226 is a great gun...but keep the Glock 17 or you'll regret trading it off. In my mind the P226 and G17 are the two best full size service weapons out there.

Personally I like the the slightly smaller Sig 228 better than the 226 as it a little trimmer in the grip and easier to carry concealed. You might want to give one a try.
