Doesn't sound like an exhorbitantly high price, maybe a bit high. I don't think that year/model is anything "special", though, so wouldn't be worth a premium price. If the bore is good and the mechanics are sound, it would be a serviceable rifle. It is not a collecter, so refinishing any of it would not decrease value. The 30-30 is classic - probably has killed as many game animals as any other caliber in the USA - if you don't have a rifle in that caliber, you may want more after getting one. I guess it depends how bad you want one and how much work you want to put into it. Doesn't sound like you'd get hurt much by buying it at that price.
