A caliber that Im very interested in, any experience as to how it stacks up against the 338-06? havent shot the Ruger much yet but the Sako 338f I had would do : 2980 fps w/ 160gr TTSX 2625 fps w/ 210gr TSX 2600 fps w/ 215gr Sierra BTSP 2325 fps w/ 250gr Hornady RNSP In the Ruger, factory 180gr Accubonds did 2800 fps and 185gr TSX 2775 fps

Looks great! I'm wondering if I need a stainless synthetic to go with my wood/blued Ruger M77 338 Fed. FYI, you can make the VX3 2.5-8 with the B&C reticle work very well with the 338 Fed. The 185 TTSX was very easy to get to shoot well and the bullet performed very well in my personal bullet "test". Looking forward to trying some Alliant Power Pro 2000MR with the 185 TTSX and possibly the 210 TTSX. If it comes close to what they publish it will essentially match my 338-06 (<100FPS diff). Very nice!

Posts like this do nothing to keep me away from a .338 Federal. Nice rifle, I'm sure it'll do everything you need.

A really nice looking combination you have there. I have the Sako 85 SS in 338 fed. I'm setting mine up to run mainly 200 Horns and 210 Partitions.

Tod what does the rifle weight? also what happened with the Sako? He couldn't handle the awesomeness of owning a Sako...(Or the laminate stock was too butt-heavy )

That is a great looking setup. I'm not sold on the cartridge, but I don't dislike it either. I am really a fan of the 8x57 and I see them as being more or less fraternal twins.

Tod what does the rifle weight? also what happened with the Sako? 7 lbs w/ rings. Should be 7 3/4 scoped I didnt like the stock on the Sako. Felt a bit clubby and weighed 8.25 lbs scoped (laminate SS 85). Didnt care for the scope mounting setup on the Sakos either. Also I prefer floorplate to detach mag. It shot well though. Love the ruger way more
