My QL version (3.4) has a Ba in the high .4s, but shooting tests reveal that my lot is _way_ faster than that. I had a malfunction today, so I didn't get any timings. Based upon my observations, I'm thinking that a Ba in the low to mid .5s would be necessary to match my lot. Have any of you had to set N160 that high to make it track?

OK, I'd remembered incorrectly. N160's default Ba is 0.446 in my version. To get numbers to match my timings today, I had to adjust it to 0.556. That puts it faster than the default for N150.

So, seriously, nobody with QL here uses Viht powders? I'm trying to figure out if something has gone wrong with this lot, or if Hartmut got some bad data from Viht, or just what's up. I admit that this container is a touch old (August 2002 lot), but it's been factory sealed until just last summer/fall, and kept tightly closed since then.

My experiences with various powders inputting actual case volumes in QL, that the Ba has to be adjusted significantly to get good predictions of velocity. And the Ba does vary from lot to lot. No experience with VV160 though.

I back correct the Ba to standard temp (ie 70F).

RL17 .5375 standard .5143 tweaked

RL15 .5200 .5618

RL7 .7250 .6484

H4198 .8650 .8400

These are some examples of my experiences.

I agree, there's always some adjustment necessary. Looks like your RL7 adjustment was at least close to my N160 adjustment, but nothing else is. My concern here is that the adjustment I've had to make is far more than a lot difference. It's more adjustment than moving to a completely different powder. Anyway, thanks for the perspective/context.
