I was ready to break out the checkbook at the local gun pusher's this past weekend when I saw one in the display case. That is, until I noticed the front sight wasn't centered. Too bad, as this is a revolver I've been dreaming of for a long time.

So why would you let a little thing like that bother you?? Just cant it one way or the other and everything should be fine L.W.

Well, now there will be two .44 Specials in the house. I just pulled the trigger on a buy it now option on gunbroker for a 5 1/2" Bisley Flattop. This will go alongside the 4 5/8" regular Flattop. Also, by purchasing this blued Bisley model, it clears the way for Lipseys to now offer a stainless steel Bisley Flattop.

Well, the dealer called yesterday and said they had exchanged the one with the crooked front sight for a new one from Lipsey's. I added it to the stable (after confirming the sight was straight). Now my other Bisleys have a new friend.

Just gave my 4-5/8" flat top .44 spl. an action job today. Came out very smooth. Now just have to fire lap the barrel, as they are normally too tight right where the barrel meets the frame. Also reamed out my sizer die to meet match the size of the cylinder mouths, of .4330", the same size they drop from the LBT mould. Should be a cast bullet shooter 'par-excellance' when done. Cuz it don't shoot for sour owl crap now!

Sounds good! So far I've tried two hardcast bullets in mine and they've both shot very well. A 240 gr SWC (commercail design) and a 250 gr Keith SWC from Magnus bullets. I ordered a set of Elk antler grips from forum member "Executioner" and he sent me pics of them the other night. They are on the way and am hoping they are here by the weekend. I'll load some pics of them once I have them installed!

According to the UPS tracking site my 5 1/2" Bisley Blackhawk is out for delivery so I should be able to pick it up tonight. Got 8 separate loads prepared last night for testing this weekend plus a couple that have worked well in the 4 5/8 regular model. Gonna be a long day at work today!

Jason, in case some others would like to add custom grips to their Bisley, can you tell us if the frame on your guns is different in any way, or the same as all other Ruger Bisley guns? The grips are just a bit smaller than the regular Bisley grips. I just tried the Flattop Bisley grips on my "full size" 5 1/2" Bisley .45 and the front to back dimension of the full size revolver grip frame is maybe .1" longer than the grip panels. Sometime this weekend I'll try to take a pic with the Flattop grips on the .45 and show the difference. BTW - that little bit smaller grip really feels good in the hand. Out of the box impressions on this Bisley Flattop - trigger pull, timing, etc. are very, very good. Will post more after I've had it to the range tomorrow.
