I am about to book an ibex hunt in Spain- will fly into Barcelona. My wife is coming along, what are some things worthwhile seeing and doing in Barcelona? We plan to spend 3-4 days sightseeing, etc. after the hunt.
thanks,

If you think you might be into it go to the bullfights. There are also several theme restaurants near the arena. One is called Mid-Evil Times, they have a live show with jousting and other games. It is not a quiet atmosphere though. Enjoy your trip.

The beaches of Majorca. Leave the wife at the hotel.

I spent 5 days after a hunt in 2008....fantastic place. Will go back just to see more.
I stayed in the Gothic Quarter good location for La Rambla and street performers around the Cathedral.Good location;not to far from the harbor, shopping, fantastic food.
Guell Park (a collection of architecture by Gaudi)is worth the trip as is the under construction Sagrada Familia.
Went to Monserat on a tour from Placa de Cataluyna for the day;this is a monestary on a unique rock ridge just North of Barcelona....cool Ibex to see up there as well.
Highly suggest the Fodors' Barcelona guide book to start your research...never let me down...A+
One thing that you need to know is dinner is late in the day(for me anyway)around 9 pm; it's hard to get a table.I ate early around 7 and was the first for the evening most times. Most places have an English menu if you ask.

Adding a couple to dinsdale's list - Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, Mercat de Sant Antoni, Castell de Montjuc, Passeig de Gracia for shopping, and if you're into history Palau Reial Major is where Columbus was received by the King an Queen of Spain when he returned in 1493.
Like he said, dinner is late (10pm is when the first locals show up, and a lot of the non-tourist places don't even open until then) so it's traditional to have tapas (appetizers) and beer at 6pm.

Accidentally went to the bull fight in Barcelona on a special day when they did the whole bull fight from horseback. Tough to be a bull but the hores were incredible. I think it was in July, however.
interesting city now that the Moors have left.

Thanks for the info! Looks like we will be touristing for four days before the ibex hunting begins. Can't wait.

A friend hunted ibex in Spain numerous times. He said they were very tough hunts with the altitude and climbing. Very rugged. However, they got treated like royalty, put up in castles, that sort of thing. He got his ibex each time and continually raved about how good the whole package was....hunt, guide, accomodations, food, etc. Enjoy!
