The local gun store has a early Texan: 20" BBl marked RC, straight stock with most of the varnish off the butt, brass saddle ring, serial# AB44xx, 85% bluing. Owner wants $350+tax, I offered $325 out the door, owner countered $325 + tax, I refused. we are about $27 different but I really don't need the rifle. When was this rifle made?

I think that would be a 1967 or 68 rile if memory serves. It sounds a little high for the condition you describe, but Texans can be hard to find. If you like it, pounce on it. I doubt you will regret it.

TBB is right. Pounce. If its a .35 Rem, PM me and I'll pounce for you. Then you can go call that dealer a crook and a cheat.

I have the carbine and the texan from the year before... 1965, great guns. My favorite decade for Modern Marlins is the 1960's. IMHO
