I just bought a new 1895 winchester 30-06 to go with the src i bought a couple of years ago . If winchester can contract these guns out to a japanese company and the fit and finish is this good why can't savage do something similar . I've said it before I'd give a 1000 for a new 99 . Also got a repro of a lyman 21 from providence tool very nice sight also . I've seen a couple of the clymin lyman sights on 99's over the years.

You are in the minority. I don't think Savage would have many takers on $1000 99s. You can buy a nice used one for less than that; one that isn't imported. If they did make new ones, I imagine they'd come with key locks and flashlight rails. I'd like ot hear more about the repro Lyman sight. I'd also like to know how well the Winchester shoots. i always thought those were cool.
