i can find any info on lymans or williams website as to which reciever sight fits the 1892. i've been told it's the same as the 94 but would like some confirmation

They should take the same model number sight, but as M92s and older M94s were not D/Td for them, that would have to be done by someone that knows how. A catalog I have from the 1970s shows the same model number Lyman, fitting both Winchesters.

you might want to consider a tang mounted aperture like the Lyman No. 2.....be a shame to ruin an original 92 by drilling on it.
