Looking at buying a new rifle for hunting. Looking to shoot 600 maybe 700 yards or more.
Here is what I am considering: Tikka T3 SS Lite Savage 116 weather warrior with accustock and accutrigger Remington 700
I have gotten some good input from guys on here so far. But I figure I would start this topic to see what the others shoot or like. Being left hand I am limited to options. What do you guys shoot and like?

The Rem 700 is probably the default standard as you can get more accessories and aftermarket parts to customise it..
The Tikka will be accurate, but I doubt there's a tenth of the stuff available for it as the Rem700. Also the Tikka has *alot* of plastic/synthetic parts (ie trigger guard and mag housing) which puts me off....

Out of the box the 300RUM Sendero is the biggest bang for the buck. $1100 Throw away the trigger tension screw. $0 for a 3# trigger or fit a Rifle Basix for $125 to get to a pound. Skim bed it. $30 for you to do it or I will for $75 Put a Holland brake on it. $200 Holland Anti cant level. $50 Night Force 20 MOA base. $120 Burris Extreme tactical low rigns lapped to perfection. $55 Leupold 66600 8.5-20x50LR scope $800 or a 66575 6.5-20x50LR for $750 Berger 210's at 3100-3200fps get you to about a mile. It will make shooting 700 yards pretty easy.
Oh. Left handed. No problem. Switch out the Sendero for a Left handed Weatherby Accumark in 300Wby. $1600 This gets you a way better trigger anyway. The rail cost more for the Mark 5. $175 for a Near rail.

If you are going to shoot out to 600 yds your going to need something that can carry down range punch. I personally shoot the rife mentioned by Hiredgun for my hunting rifle. It is a 300 Weatherby Mag in the Accumark. It is accurate and also it shoots flat which I appreciate.
I also have a heavy barreled 300wsm that I use to shoot long range with, mostly steel. I have been pretty happy with this round as well, of course its no 300 wby, but it has some very good down range performance. Try and handle a couple rifles and see what works best. I have had good luck with the 185 Berger VLDs, 220 sierra matchking (ringin steel bullet) and the 180 Accubond bullets. Don't get to lite of a rifle, you may find the recoil to stout. Of course each person is different, just keep it in mind. I personally would not want a 300 wsm in a T3 lite.

The deal is when you say 700 and more yards you really need to consider a 26" heavy barreled magnum. 7mm Rem mag on up. I would like to see at least a 300 Win mag. A standard contour can be accurate but for consistant LR performance the heavier barrels seem to dominate. A little more case capacity is going to be needed along with the longer 26" barrel to burn the slow powder required to launch the high BC bullets that you will need to make it easier to hit with and still have some downrange energy. At 700 the optics are getting really important. Something with target knobs and 30 MOA of up elevation left while sighted in at 100 will be nice.

Back in my days living in AZ and hunting Cows deer my favorite rifle was a 7mm Rem mag shooting 120 grain Ballistic Tips at 3,500 mv. Good for killing them out to 700 yds easy.
The 7 will do great on anything in AZ, just step up the bullet weight on elk to a 168 or 180 Berger.
No reason to mess with 300 mag recoil.

Kique Kique, You did not state what you would be hunting at "600 mabey 700 yards or more". Today I was hunting Rockchucks and shot one past 900 yds with my 6BR/Imp. with a 95gr Berger in a 18mph crosswind, great for a rockchuck but not for an Elk or one of SU35's (Cows Deer). your question is a bit vague

264 winchester magnum and remington 700CDL with 26 inch barrel and bullets from 85gr to 165gr for the best all around long range, flat shooting rifle with mild recoil.

Enrique,
With turrets readily available, the real issue becomes wind drift. There are many chamberings to choose from here are a few of my favorites.
If you are just shooting coues then I'd seriously consider a properly built 257 weatherby and shoot the 115 berger VLD. Unfortunately VLDs don't always shoot well in some rifles. We have built 5 rifles using a Pacific Tool and Gauge reamer and all five shoot the VLD very accurately. Many 500-650 yd kills have been made on our coues and even a few CO muleys and elk.
A 26" minimum length 7 rem mag with high BC bullets can do great things with little recoil and minimal wind drift. It could be made in a fairly light package so you wouldn't be burdened walking around. I have a heavy 30" 7 rem mag that is very accurate shooting 160 accubonds close to 3300 fps. A 24" 7 rem mag can get 3100 fps with same bullet.
If you want more power to include elk the 300 RUM might be perfect. I have a 9 1/2 lb rifle I put together with a McMillan stock and aftermarket barrel. It shoots the 200 gr accubond very accurately at 3200 fps.
If it were my decision I'd scour the used racks at Murphy's and pick up a nice model 700 just for the action. Then I'd order the properly twisted barrel with at least a #5 profile and get a McMillan. Top it off with a Leupold with turrets and you would be set for all our animals in Az.

Enrique, For a reasonable priced purpose-built mid range rifle (600 yds is midrange), I sure like my Sendero II SF. I put a 6.5-20 Conquest on it from Doug ($750), a Jewel trigger ($225), and a scope level ($25, thanks JoeCool!) and it will smack stuff out to 600,700 with boring regularity running the 200-gn Accubond. Mine is a 300 Win. Honestly I wish I'd gone 7-mag. For your purposes I'd go 7-mag all the way. Unless you are going after elk, then perhaps 300 mag like I did (elk were why I stepped it up to the .300). Here's a pic of the beast in action:

My goto plains rifle is a vanguard action with a 26" #4 1-8" stainless .264 wm barrel bedded into a laminated stock. I mounted a vx3 longrange 4.5-14x40 and had turrets installed. This works very well to 700 yards. Last year I hunted with 130 grain accubonds. not sure what I'm using for bullets this year. I'm using up the accubonds on beanfield permits this summer.

Kique--seems to me you have a 700/7 Rem if so here's what I'd do b4 I bought a new rig.
I'd restock it with a Mickey (Classic with Edge fill or Hunters Edge), then I'd add a 3-10 Leo with a M1 on top and a Jewell. I'd have a good smith bed your old action to it and see how it shoots. If it didn't perk well enough I'd get ahold of Schneider and order a 4 or 4.5 weight 7 barrel. Cut it to 25" and chamber it in 7 Mashburn, 7 Rem (long throated) or 7 Wby.
Load up 7828 and a 150 NBT or 168 Berger and which ever perks the best go forth and fill up several arks. Either bullet will work quite fine for all that moves.
