I'm buying this rifle from pictures provided and the seller maintains it's an all original "Custom KS". It's in 350RM but the stock doesn't look right to me - the darker camo finish. Most I've seen in pics are lighter gray and not camo as in the bottom pic below. The seller says its factory paint and butt pad. He says the stock weighs 24ozs which is light.

But I'm still wondering about whether or not he's right. Any clarifications or additional info would be most helpful. Any one ever see a factory issue Model Seven Custom KS that looked like this?

Yes, as I remember, they were offered with that camo paint in the 80's/early 90's... looks totally "correct" to me going by memory.

If the chambering/caliber is stamped right close to the recoil lug, it is a custom shop.

Whelen B,

Yes that is a KS. The earlier ones had Brown Precision stocks. Mine is identical to that one. Same stock, and same Camo paint scheme... I believe at that time they were also available with the "Battleship Grey" paint, as well.

Dang handy little rifles... Light and easy to handle... They will, however, get your attetion with the heavier loads.. smile (One whould hope, however, that whatever you aim it at is suitably impressed...)

The only Remington Custom Shop catalog I have shows only the Grey ones...

I just now found this link with good pics of a darker camo stocked Custom KS. Looks similar to the one I'm buying pictured above. Thanks all - this is putting my mind more at ease. Hope I'm allowed to put this link as a reference.

Gunnut308 - where is the calibre stamped on a non custom shop gun? How close to the lug is normal? Here's a pic I found of a calibre designation stamp on a custom KS.
