My dogs got to be plain stupid !

She sits on our deck, right under the Humming Bird feeder !

Tries to "snap" the bees & hornets coming in for the nectar !!

I guessing it will be a fast learning curve, if she actually gets one.

Finally got around to mounting a scope on my Tikka 6.5 Swede and took it to the range today. I had a box of RWS 140 grainers and got it on paper. Groups aren't anything to brag about. Now I need to work up some reloads.

The star of the day was my granddaughter, Ashlee. Ashlee drew a special November youth deer hunt tag for the Sandhill Wildlife area. She has to attend a one day orientation session with the DNR Aug 3rd, during which she has to qualify with a rifle.

Using her dads A Bolt 30-06 with Managed Recoil loads we had her try shots from 25 to 100 yards. She was so nervous on the first shot that she missed the target completely. Once she realized she wasn't going to get beat up by the recoil she settled down and started to punch the center out of the target. Her last 3 shots were at 100 yards and she grouped them into 1 inch. Dad and grandpa were pretty darn proud of her.

That is great!! I love those low recoil loads for the kids.

Were they handloads or one of the factory load offerings? if factory which way did you go? rem or federal?

We've tried both and found the federal loads to be very accurate in out 30-06's.

When I tore my rotator cuff, I use the Rem and Federal Managed recoil stuff too. The Fed outperformed by good margin in my 7600 at the time.

I never got to shoot a deer with them though, so I don't know how well they work.

Hello Campers,

Dave, you still getting Mushrooms down there ?

Deb & I went blueberry picking on Friday evening & I happened upon a bit pile of Chanterelles !

Picked about a kilogram (2.2lb).

Went beautifully with the medium rare prime rib roast, on Friday night !

Paul.

Cheers Mate,

Is that 'cause the wild ones are done in your area, or just the shear convenience of the "dogs" log ?

There are 2 types of mushroom pickers. Old ones and bold ones, but there are no old bold ones.

Got the boat running right Bill. The plugs were bad, real bad. #1 plug was loose too. I was a bit concerned that it had a lot of oil in the cyl. I hope the rings aren't bad...It started and ran good, even at idle. I'm going to give it a run this weekend I think.

Putting a boat in down here sure isn't like hitting Dubay for a few hours. It'll take 30 min at the ramp. One dude commented on how fast we got the boat in on out of the way....Well, DUH? isn't that whay you're supposed to do? crazy Most of them unload the boat, at the single ramp, then load all the crap for the day in it, all the people, etc... It's a new concept to actually have the boat ready while you wait in line at the ramp.
