Hey gang,

I've long had a desire to spend a few days up @ Zippels on LOW in a "sleeper house" for 3 days or something like that.

I realize July is an interesting time to be talking about ice fishing but am trying to be proactive. My schedule would work well for me to go in early January.

Anyone else done anything like this and what are your thoughts?

Many thx, us cold footers have to stick together...grin

Look at arnesens rocky point... Also i think its alittle cheaper to stay in a sleeper house but as soon as the sun goes down the bite is done.. Sometimes nice to go in on land at nite take a shower, watch tv... Another option check out northwest angle I was up there last year for the first time and did very well...

Good time to start looking around at resorts sometimes there all booked by sept, had that problem before, but not every year....

Can pm me if any questions, im sure northern dave could also chime in on this to...

Thx is Arnesons a resort or a place or both?

Also, what do you use for bait or jig with. And I hear you about the lodge but staying in the house for a couple days out on the ice is what perks me about this trip, even if the fishing isn't so good later on..

For me it's more about the trip and the brotherhood than the fishing, not to say we don't want to rip some lips though

the LOW sleeper houses title did catch my eye lol!!

You keep in touch & we'll get you hooked up Dober.

If you want to do rental house I'll check with some of my buds that frequent the mid/east part of the lake as that's where most of the sleeper rental stuff is at. West side has some too though.

Depending on how many & what kind of set up you are looking for, I'd offer you the keys to my 8X16 which is a built to fish sort of rig with no bunks or cook stove so you'd have to kind of be in camp mode with a coleman stove and some bunks but the price would be right grin

Just let me know what you are looking to get out of the trip as far as house accomodations resort type services, any particular part of the lake you might be more interested in fishing etc.

Between me & my buddies I think we'd be able to set you up as good or better than most resorts. I got one friend that built a mega house last year, pulls it behind a big twin track trail groomer type tractor. It's rediculous... and I mean that.

2 stripper poles.

Here's the thing about stripper poles, it's kind of a "field of dreams" effect as in "if you build it they will come"

I don't know where they come from, don't want to know... snow bunnies lol!!

So, anyways. That gives you an idea of the range of options available.

you're not the only one lol!!

Seriously though, my house sits empty & cold out there for too much of the season.

Just keep in touch, I have a couple friends in the area that I encourage to use my house as much as possible because that way the holes are open when I want to luse the house lol!!

Here's what we use.

both, Arnesons of rocky point, rock harbor lodge.

Straight up the middle of the lake, east of Warroad, straight north of roosevelt.

as far as jigs & gear... LOW provides walleye fishing for dummies. (this is why I like it grin )

If you bring rusty hooks, stiff springy 15 lb "slinky" mono and red and white plastic bobers with a coffee can full of angle worms you'll do just fine.

Bring the fly line to spool your tip ups for pike.

Seriously, it's an awesome way to go.

Ya got me there!

Every year we talk about saving some crawlers and bringing them out icefishing but every year we forget lol!!

Keep in touch though Dober, serious. I'll get the house ready for ya if you want & I'll clear out & let you & your group do your thing all week or what ever you want.

If nothing else I've always got my finger on the pulse of that lake & I can tell you where the bite is hot & what is working for people the best.

call ahead because it's quite often the area bait shops don't get shiners but you'd likely be coming through lakes country where you might be able to get your hands on some on the way up.
