I don't know about scopes, but I sent a lens to my D40 camera to them and have gotten the run around, had to provide all kinds of receipts to get warranty service, even though the lens fell out on its own. Think I might go Cannon next time.
I shoot professionally and can tell you the camera department is not very good at all with repairs. They are slow and sometimes my lenses come back not even fixed. I have sent one lens in three times for repair and it was never fixed. I gave up. To make matters worse, that particular lens was broken when I took it out of the box...brand new.
When it comes to Nikon sporting optics, they are fantastic in my book. I sent in a pre-monarch 4x40 last year that was about 18 years old, obviously no box or paperwork. It was repaired, returned and back on a gun in just outside two weeks. No charge whatsoever. I don't know how anyone could ask for better service. What speaks even better of Nikon sporting optics is that between my father and I, we own at least seven Monarch and pre-Monarch scopes that I can think of off the top of my head and only one has ever developed a problem.
