I started carrying my sons G23 this week just to compare to my first pistol the BHP40 I have talked so much about. I like the Glock because it is smaller and noticeably lighter.
Is there an "American Classic" gun about like the Glock 23?
Thanks for your input.

Never heard of Wilson. Could it be because of the outrageous price? I saw one on their website for $3800.00.

S&W 4013 or 4053..
3rd gen Smiths - Don't get much more "American Classic" than that.
I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...

You could go retro, and go with a 38-40 single action. Same ballistics. There's American Classic.

The Springfield XD is a wonderful pistol, but alas, it's made in Croatia so it's not an "American" classic. Kahr is made in the USA and has a marvelous reputation. Plus, it's not as fugly as a Glock.

My vote for "American classic" would be either a 3rd generation S&W or a Hi-Power. Can a plastic pistol be a "classic"?

For a true classic, since the .40 S&W was invented by Smith & Wesson (and Winchester) it should be the pistol it was introduced in: the S&W 4006.
Also acceptable would be the late and great, smaller and lighter S&W 4013.

Not an American Classic, but the Steyr M40A1 is sweet.

At the rate American's have bought them, I would say the Glock 23!

Yep..............the G23 is the best fitting of all the G's for me, albeit, I carry the G27 more often due to it's lighter weight and size.
An "American Classic" along those lines........likely the S&W 4006.
Good luck............
