You are a bivvy style hunter 5+ days and currently have a Big Agnes Storm King (0*).

If you were going to purchase a Valandre sleeping bag for the use in the early season of hunting (August/September). In the regions from New Mexico for Antelope to North West Montana for Elk.

Would you purchse the Bloody Mary or Mirage?

Valandre Bloody Mary (2.58lbs / 41.4oz / 5-20*F / 850+goose / Compressed Volume: 7LTR - 427cu)

Valandre Mirage (1.64lbs / 27.3oz / 15-30*F / 850+goose / Compressed Volume: 4.8LTR - 293cu)

Keep in mind the weight and pack size (5,000ci), but keeping warm at night is on your mind.

Winded:

If Valandre were my only choice, for use in August/September, I would go with the Mirage. I've been using a 20 bag for the last month and and a half. I will probably use it until mid-Sept., then switch to my 5 bag.

Definitely the Mirage for me. I was quite tempted to buy one, and may yet someday, but for folks like me on a beer budget the Montbell will have to do for today.
