Drew a tag for the early rifle buck season and plan on hunting in area 86. Anyone hunted the early season there before who has any information to share. I've been in there this summer and packed into three different drainages. All held good bucks. Now Im trying to decide where to go first. Concerned about the amount of people that may be in there opening weekend. Labor Dayso that might help with the decision if anyone could comment on that.

I will talk with a couple of friends that live down that way and see of they can offer any insight as to what the crowds will be like. I know that in some of the high country that's close to Denver there are huge crowds and it doesn't seem to affect the deer like I thought it would. I would be more concerned with the bowhunters as they are more likely to blow something out of a basin.

Hunt41, How many points did you burn for that? Planning on a velvet mount? Looking forward to pics. Good luck.

I had 10 points to draw the tag this year. I've seen some nice bucks on a couple of scouting trips. Hope to find a good wall hanger in velvet. Season opens September 4th...so a little over two weeks and I'll be camping in some drainage at 12,000 ft! Can't wait.

Been awhile, but I always saw some nice bucks on the ridges around the bowl that Crestone lake is in. I went in from Crestone
