I vote work on the truck and cabin on Sunday, as I suspect before you'll be needing to use that truck.

I am hoping we finally get a year of snow and cold for deer season, instead of clear and hot or downpour rain.

Dave,

I've got 7 blades ground and just back from heat treat sitting on my work bench. The problem is work has been so darn busy that they will still be in the exact same spot when I get back from Colorado. I figure on taking the 24hour knife, being as it's already been broke in on elks.

Only 20 days until we leave.....not that I'm counting:)

Dave,

Got the front part of the floor cut out on the 78. Got the new pans cut to shape and tacked 3/4 around for now, still have to tack the front. Do you weld a full seam around the floors when you do it?

The pieces I cut off will make good patches for the [bleep] part next to the seat on both sides of the truck. They should work perfect.

I don't know if you have an "air nibbler" or not, but would suggest one, that thing rocks.

Yeah I weld my floor pans "water tight" all the way around.

I use a milwaukee electric shear. It's a 3 toothed shear head on a drill body.

I used a 3" air cut-off tool for most of the removal. The nibbler was to cut the new pans to size. When I first started today I was afraid I bit off more than I could chew but once I got the hang of it, it was pretty fun...messy, messy fun. laugh

about a year ago I bought a 78 F-150 4x4. Truthfully, the body is a real piece of crap. The drivetrain is great on the other hand. Runs like a top, so far.

I wanted to fix one up on my own and chose this one. Might as well start at the bottom and work my way up. grin

Dave has helped me with most of the stupid questions I've had so far, and he hasn't told me to shut-up yet, so I keep askin. grin

I'll post some pics of the progress when I get home tomorrow.

After coming in for tonight with most of my knuckles, I may call it "project busted knuckle".

Franken Truck is leading in the polls though. Lots-a patching today.

The boys did great work yesterday. They'll take a shot at the yellow pickup today. Here's what the blue pickup sits like now.

We pulled the yellow truck out away from the side of the shop last night and had a little trouble stopping the yellow pickup from rolling. We had a little bump into the front of my red pickup which was the pulling truck. I was pretty mad about it and RWS was behind the wheel of the yellow truck & felt just terrible. The little guy was trying to stop the rolling truck (no battery in it so it wasn't running) but he couldn't stop it. I was tied to him with a tow strap & couldn't get away from him... well I ran out of room trying to get away backwards leaving the tow strap loose between us & the bump between the snowplow blade & the front of my red truck was unavoidable.

I was mad.

Then I saw what the problem was.

Poor RWS was pushing that peddle straight to the floor and the truck just wouldn't stop!

Well it was my fault, the whole thing was. I meant to use the old brown pickup, battery was dead because the dome light was left on. So, against better judgment I used the red pickup. I know to hang an old tire off the front of one of the rigs to act as a cushion, well I didn't do that. I also didn't give RWS any instructions as to which peddle to push or to pull it into gear if he had to or to turn the truck or this or that... All kinds of things I should have done.

So little guy, I hope you are reading this today. That little bump was your dad's fault & not yours. You're a good boy and I'm proud of you. Go out & turn wrenches on that old yellow pickup & have fun doing it. I'll help with the hard stuff when I get home.

Don't worry any RWS, things happen. its a good learning experience for the next time. don't let it get you down, especially when dad said its his fault smile you're in the clear!
