I picked up a Savage 24 action the other day without barrels. Its a older 24 22 LR over 410 with the barrels solid together, I have a barrel but the barrels are spaced apart and the 22 dosen't line up.

you have to make sure which style mod 24 you've got.the old style uses whats called a barrel with a round extractor for the 20ga and the newer ones use whats called a flat extractor.you can't exchange new and old barrels,the recievers don't match and the 22 barrel (if its an old model ) will stick up above the top of the reciever and the firing pin won't strike the shell

Ya, I have a barrel that sticks above above the reciever.
(Which I'd sell if anyone wants it!)
This action has the side selector which leads me to the old style
as well.

I saw several bbls on Gunsamerica a few days ago..

I have a 24 Savage 22/410 barrel that is basically without any finish that I believe dates to '60 or so. Doesn't have the scope groove. Bought for a project that never happened. It has the sights, but most all small parts have been removed. 22 bore is pretty and bright and the 410 bore shines except for a short dull area ahead of the chamber. Don't know whether it's lack of manuf polishing or erosion. Most of the 410 barrel is bright. $30 and I'll ship.
