A couple of the dealers on one of the gun auction sites claim the stainless guide gun is hard to find and in short supply.
Any basis to that? I did a search here and on Marlin Owners, didn't see any posts referring to a shortage.

Davidson's and Lipseys are out of them. I think they are going to be hard to get until the move is over.

That's the model everyone seems to want right now, factor in the move, and you have a temporary shortage. Hope it clears up for your soon, I hate waiting once I have made my mind up to buy.

I have seen them in both CT and NY, but I have been looking for SS 1894 in 44mag and haven't seen one in a while. I do wonder if many folks who have been thinking of a Marlin decided to go for one while they could still get a North Haven one as its a known quanity rather than chance that an Ilion made one will be as good.

OK, thanks for the input. Likely you're right, a temporary shortage, the move and people buying for the fall hunting season might be the reasons.
It's a good seller, great rifle in .45-70, I don't know about the demand for other calibers.

After much self debate, I decided I wanted a Marlin 1895GBL (blued), and found it difficult to find one, with the Marlin move suggested as the contributor.
I thought I had exhausted all Google searches until I included the word "shipping" in the search, and one popped up that I hadn't seen before, and it was available! I will have it this Monday.
Good luck in your search.

I have seen 4 of them at 3 gun stores in the last 2 weeks! Marlin Guide Gun without the porting in the stainless metal, stock was laminated wood and looked very good on all of them.

seen a few around town, seems each gun store has 1 or two of them

I just returned from 2 weeks in Maine, and happed to visit three different gunshops in Corinna (Lew's Guns & Pawn), Brewer (Van Raymond), and Kittery (Kittery Trading Post).
All three had new & used (some scoped) Guide Guns F/S, blued & stainless, ported & not, in .45-70 & .450M for $375 to $650.............

I just picked up a Marlin Guide Gun - 45/70 cal, with stainless steel metal. It has the laminated, colored stock on the gun, looks real nice. Price was $685 dollars American money.
