Looked at an SKB 605 shotgun at the gunshow today, this is a 2 barrel set with a 28" 12 gauge barrel/forearm set and a 26" 20 gauge barrel/forearm set. Overall condition is about 85-90%. Has original box and paperwork along with 8 chokes.
Pros and cons of this shotgun??? Value??
Thanks

The SKB 605 is a slightly upgraded version of the venerable M505.. A little better wood, mainly, along with silver receiver instead of blued. The innards are the same. Quality is excellent, internals are well-made and at least as good in quality as the Browning O/Us.
A two-barrel set can run $1000-1200+, depending on condition. You mention 85-90 which may drop it a tad.
What did they want for this set?

I looked at these a few years ago. The deal killer for me was the weight. They are heavy guns, and I never could see the point of a 20 gauge that weighs 7 pounds or more, and a 12 around 8.
Just my $.02.

Well, for O/Us, that's about average.. The Citori's average about 8# for the 12, and 7#+ for the 20... http://www.browning.com/products/ca...amp;content=citori-625-sporting-firearmsIf you're wishing only lightweight stuff, you need to drop a barrel and go pump or S/A...

If you consider average to be a range rather than a point, but I'd still say they are on the heavy side. That's one reason I went to Berettas. Of course there are some real lightweights out there as well. A fraction of a pound can mean a lot when you are lugging a shotgun through the fields all day.
Repeating myself, I can't see the point of a 7 lb. 20 gauge.

What did they want for this set? $1050 plus tax.......figure about $1150 out the door.......so far, I have resisted the temptation.......I have a 12 ga. o/u and a 20 sxs, but have been wanting a 20 ga o/u for awhile....most decent 20 ga. o/u run about 1k around here, so I figured I'd have a 2 barrel set for not much more money....if the condition was slightly better or the price a bit less, I'd probably buy it.....

At that price, it's reasonable considering the percentage condition.. But here's a possibility - walk in with $900 cash.. Wave it in his face and see what happens.. Paul Depends on what it's use will be.. For a field gun, yeah it is a tad heavy.. For a competition gun, it's right on the money.. At the same time, you can look at it as a muscle-building item..
