The title says it all. I've seen less than a dozen rabbits in the whole time I've lived here. Any ideas? Okie John
If Montana had a standing army, a 270 Win with Federal Blue Box 130's would be the standard issue.

Hit the logging roads for grouse. I liked the Olympics but picked some up around Enumclaw occasionally. Bonus on grouse is you might kick out some bunnies.
Ducks and geese around the Nisqually flats. Access can be a pain. Ducks on powerline ponds in the forests too. Tough recovering them.

There is no small game in Western Washington that is legal, check the game regs on rabbits and squirrls, some crow shooting. Almost all animals that could be called small game are protected. You goota go East, try Yakama or Natchese, some ground squirrils over there but not a lot. This state is not a sportsmans paridise the deer are small and hard to hunt, the geese all live in Seattle at Green lake, ducks are few and far between on the west side. I see a couple of coyotes a month and the occasional bobcat. But I also see 500-1000 Rosevelt elk in a months time and sometimes a good sized black bear. I live on the Olympic Penninsula. The garbage dumps are all gone so are the rats. Just to many folks moving into this state.
Bullwnkl.

Try gaining permission on nut orchards,(filbert ect.) I live in Vancouver and hunt a few orchards with my airgun when rimfire hunting would be a saftey issue.Lots of bushytails to be found there.

Anyone have any ideas where to hunt small game around the Yakima WA area, and what is available to hunt?

Pick up a copy of the Washington Atlas & Gazetteer. In the front is a listing of all public hunting areas and the game availible. Also the Yakima Fireing Range and Fort Lewis have small game hunting. Then pick a place and do some trompimg pretty soon you'll start to reconize the places that hold game.
Good Luck
erich
After the first shot the rest are just noise.
