My advice go with the CVA Apex less money and I would say from experence better gun. The pro hunter just not the gun the big gun writers and pro.hunters say it is

If money is a factor, i would buy the CVA,,If you want a quality gun, go Encore,, I would buy the standard Encore, not the Endeavor or Pro Hunter. No need for the 28inch barrel,or flutting,,especially in a muzzleloader..

Apex without a doubt. 100gr Blackhorn209, 300 gr Powerbelt Platinum are giving 1 to 1 1/2" groups @ 100 yards with OPEN SIGHTS. Its scary to think what it'd do with a scope mounted.

The Apex also has an adjustable trigger so you dont have to spend more $$ on a trigger kit.

This is some info thats helpful,
http://www.maxmuzzleloaderblog.com/2010/07/truth-about-tc-encore.html

Also visit www.bellmtcs.com This guy makes a living off of fixing TC encores.

You should handle them both because at the end, you're the final judge with the say.

I wouldn't buy a CVA. You want a quality firearm get the T/C.

I have had 2 different Encores in the past and they would not shoot a group for nothing, and I tried everything.Don't get me wrong they were very nice guns, just not up to par for me.I just bought a CVA Apex,I have not shot it yet but I am very happy so far.The fit, finish, bore of the barrel are awesome. For me it shoulders better than the Encore also.Oh yea,the trigger is AWESOME,don't have to go and spend money on a trigger job on this one! Did I mention it's all Stainless and cheaper than the blued T/C Encore and comes with a Durasite scope base and a sling also?

all the cva apex's i've seen shoot great. i've seen alot of encores that i was not satified with as far as accuratcy.

bigblock, toyota #1 not in my book, more like over priced junk.i think the encore is way over priced.

get a triumph ,if you want the best ml.

Personally I'd rather have the T/C Triumoh or Impact. They are good safe muzzleloader. Hopefully Knight will get back in the game soon. Next to Savage, Knight was the best.

thanks for your reply and a great article on ML will look into the Apex or a Encore frame and Bergara barrel.

I'm sure the CVA is a good muzzle-loader , but for me i will take the Encore or Omega . I have both and they shoot MOA at 100 yards with the Hornady 250 SST and American Pioneer Pellets. I would go with the 26 inch SS Encore barrel over the Pro Hunter. I believe TC went in the wrong direction with a 28 inch barrel for the muzzle-loader.

A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

I could say the same of several here. Since the CVA forum shut down, those who work for CVA go from forum to forum selling CVA products. I don't work for anyone that produces firearms so I just try to get folks to buy something safe and that has a resale value.

If Randy lies it's not about muzzleloaders or projectiles.

Bigblock455 and SWRshooter has shown many here on the ML forum the CVA rifles are as accurate as any T/C rifle and the CVA quality has greatly improved over the last 5 years. wink

I am a strong advocate of the T-C rifles whether a Omega, Triumpth or Encore/Pro hunter but any CVA rifle will do what you need...to go kill deer.

It's a very competative market place competing for the "NEW" muzzleloading shooter/hunter. Each company, CVA or T/C has their own product strength at different prices. Choose wisely. smile

I've never said that accuracy was an issue. Many of the spanish made guns and barrels are very accurate. Be sure you wear shooting glasses.
