I was down at the local Gander Mountain today. They had an RSI #1 in 7x57 on the used rack. I looked it over VERY carefully. It is apparently ANIB. Doesn't look like it's ever been opened or fired.
They want 1500.00 for it. That about right? Just down the rack was a CZ with the full length stock, butter knife handle in pretty rough shape but decent for 800.00 (left side all buggered up by a kitchen table g-smith putting a scope mount on it)

I believe it will stay in the rack for an awful long time at that price!

Sounds like typical Gander Mountain pricing to me, the CZ isn't far off from brandy-new prices, and the Ruger is insanely high.

That's what I figured on the Ruger. What should it be?
Can you even get a new CZ with the full length stock and butter knife handle? This one looked to be rather old.

Seems they're taking the pricing policy from Caebla's now.

Seems they're taking the pricing policy from Caebla's now. +1 Was at the local Cabela's today and saw 2 #1S's on the rack - new - $1399/ea, both RCMs.
I never thought I'd grow up to be a grumpy old man, but I did, and I'm killin' it.

I'm sure they are trying to stick it to the buying public because of the 7x57 going by the wayside? Also RSI's may be worth $25 more than the rest. Obviously they want to keep that RSI on the wrack until someone very desperate comes along. Pitiful Jethro..........jist pitiful.

It does not figure in a depressed economy that any used rifle -- no matter the shape -- that not so long ago was selling for @ $750 is worth twice that and more than current MSRP. Even with Ruger's annually galloping MSRP, any buyer would be upside down on the rifle for years (decades?) to come.
But, that said, that RSI in that profile is in pretty high demand and probably should attract a higher premium than $25 even though it will be a crap-shoot whether it shoots tight groups or not.

My local Gander Mountain had a "scratch & dent sale" last month with (2) #1B's. 06 & 22-250. The 06 came home for 550 + tax. The new black padded ones.

Typical Gander Mountain to me. Several times while browsing (I don't know if I've ever bought anything in there) I've seen used rifles of the same exact make/model/caliber for sale as a new one for less than a $50 difference.
Otto is my co-pilot.
