My X-Bolt is chambered in 270 Winchester and the Inflex recoil pad seems to do a great job. Recoil seems noticeably lighter to me than it did from a Remington 700 with the R3 pad and the Remington Supercell. A couple of my hunting friends who have shot the rifle have also commented on how easy the rifle shoots. I would imagine the 338 is going to have some punch to it though. The only way to know for sure is to shoot it and see.
