If you want to balance out the weight distribution on the plastic stock T-3, take the stock off first and tape or block off the holes that allow expandable spray foam to expand into the action, trigger, etc. Fill it will the foam and let it dry and then put it back on, paint it or whatever.
I used 10 175 grain cheap bullets to stick in the foam at the back of the stock. This adds .25 pound at the back and with a 3-9x40 scope my 7-08 is balanced perfectly for me. I have a Limbsaver pad on mine. It is not fussy about any handload I have ever run thru it. Just shoots great. Brimfish

For me a rifle with a little weight in the barrel is a lot easier to hold steady. But that's just me. +1 Me too, if a rifle is not a little muzzle heavy I can't get it to settle enough to get a good shot.

Never had a problem with mine. Plastic parts have yet to be an issue in 5 years of hunting. Balance feels fine to me. And anything that shoots factory ammo like above can live in my house forever. LOL!

I started this tread. I went to Gander Mt. today and of course checking the rifles is mandatory. I tried 3 Tikkas there and they all balanced a lot better then the one I tried last week. A whole lot better! One of them felt really good. Now I am wondering if the one I tried last week was in a bench rest configuration? It must have been because, like StrayDog, I could not get it to settle for a shot is I had to. My apologies to all Tikkaians.

I am guessing the original posted handled one of the heavy barrel varmint models. All varmint guns are barrel heavy, but it doesn't matter since you are usually shooting them off a rest.

I've got a varmint stainless in 243Win and it is barrel heavy to a degree. The catch is however, that it actually weighs in at a bit more than the M70 Coyote Lite ... and both these rifles are about the handiest, most portable mass produced varmint rifles about. Scoped they will often come in at the weight of a heavy sporter ... try lumping a Ruger VT or Savage LRPV around some steep hills. Given the choice of an M70 or T3 ... I know which I'd place money down to shoot better. Cheers... Con
