Now here's something I never would have figured to see. http://www.lipseys.com/itemdetail.a...es&type=Rifle&action=Single+ShotNot sure how desirable this is, since the .30-30 is pretty well wedded to lever actions in my mind, but good on Ruger and Lipseys for doing it.
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery. Hit the target, all else is twaddle!

This does seem kind of an odd caliber to chamber in one of these but I would be a really fun gun to have and to shoot. You really can't hot rod the .30-30 but after all these years, it is still one of my favorite calibers and a lot of fun to shoot and very versatile if you handload.

Your guys are a little late to the party on this. We discussed it to death on this thread two months ago.... http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/4215125/3/Ruger_1_in_30_30_Winchester

To me it's being able to use pointed bullets rather than the flat nose style on all the factory stuff.

Well, not all factory 30-30 loads are falt nosed.
The Hornady Leverevolution 160g load is a spitzer and holds up pretty well out to 300 yards.
And I cannot think of a more elegant "lever action" rifle to shoot that load out of than a Ruger no 1A..
Still it IS nice to use whatever bullet you'd like and the single shot definitely does not hinder than.
