Opinion of rifle of model row Marlin XL/XS and XLS/XSS.
Hi.
I see sufficiently a lot of positive reviews on the site of Gauze about these models Marlin XL/XS and XLS/XSS.
However much it is there is no information from considerable representatives which arrange the review of weapon.
Models Marlin XL/XS and XLS/XSS indeed so good or it is a not high-quality cheap commodity.
Objective Opinions, suggestions and information welcomed.
Thank you for an answer.

IIRC Kristian is using a translation program to post this in English so the meaning can be tough to discern.

I believe he's merely asking for opinions of the Marlin X series rifles.

The X series rifles are likely the best value right now in a centerfire rifle. Available for under $300 everywhere they come in limited chamberings and have design features based on several different rifles. They use a barrel nut for headspacing the barrel like the Savage 110/10 series and also have a trigger much like the Savage AccuTrigger. The bolthead is floating like the Savage too. The rest of the bolt is more conventional than the Savage bolt and IMO goes a long way towards making the Marlin a better looking rifle.
The X series rifles are reliable, accurate, inexpensive rifles and are definitely worth a look.

Gotcha. I had a .30-06 Marlin XL that was extremely accurate without having to do any tweaks. All did was mount a 6x42 Leupold in Talley mounts on it, bore sight it and sight it in at the range. Using cheap Winchester 150gr ammo from Walmart it was shooting well under an inch in no time. It looks a lot better than the Savage but both are accurate budget rifles.

I think that the Marlin XL/XS-7 series of rifles are the best buy in an entry-level or economy centerfire rifle.

The long action XL-7s are currently chambered in 25-06, 270, and 30-06.

The short action XS-7s are currently chambered in 243, 7mm-08, and 308.

I have bought 3 of these rifles, 2 XS-7s and 1 XL-7. 1 of the XS-7s is still in its factory specs, except to a Krylon paint job, in 243. This is a truck/ranch rifle that I leave at my MIL's place in SD. I have only shot Federal factory loads in it and it has produced very good groups with both 80 and 100 grain factory loads.

The other 2 rifles have been rebarreled with Adams & Bennett Savage specs barrels from MidwayUSA. The XL-7 came as a 270 and is now a 7x57. The XS-7 came as a 243 and is now a 257 Roberts.

I think that Marlin would be wise to add the 223 and 22-250 in 1 in 8" or 1 in 9" ROT to the XS-7s and the 7mm Rem Mag and 300 Win Mag to the XL-7s.

I haven't seen any of the stainless Marlin XL/XS-7s, but think that they would be equal to those made in CM. The wholesale price on 09/13/10 is around $275 for the CM rifles and $355 for the SS rifles.

I just purchased a Marlin XL7 30.06 on Saturday, I sighted it the same day. It came with a cheap scope, but its optics are nice and clear. I was hitting dead center at 100 yards, and in the kill area at 200 yards, using remington core lokt 180 grain bullets. Very tight groups. This gun seems to have a lot more kick then most .06's I've shot, but probably one of the most accurate and easiest I gun I have sighted in.

I've had an XL7 in .270 for a couple weeks. I love the quality of the rifle and the accuracy is outstanding.

I had one in 308win for a while and did some hunting with it. I loved it - very accurate without much tweaking or special loading - nice looking rifle as well.

Great value and great rifle regardless of price.

260RemGuy - that .243 XS7 you turned into a .257 Bob. Any problems with that? I want a 6mm Rem rather then a .243 and have been informed since 6mm Rem (like the Bob) is based upon the 7mm Mauser case the XS short action (i.e. .243,.308) can't handle the 6mm Rem COL. Regards, Homesteader

The magazine works fine for the 75 thru 110 grain bullets that I'm using in it. Even the 117 grain Hornady factory loads feed fine through the XS-7's magazine.

Although it might not have been necessary, I trimmed the 24" A&B barrel back and recut the chamber so that I'd have tight/minimum headspace. The 24" barrel balances nicely with a Simmons 3.5-10x40 Whitetail Classic mounted in Warne Maxima rings in Weaver 2-piece bases.

The quality of the Marlin rifles I've seen has been pretty impressive - I don't know of a better rifle for the price and there are a number of more expensive rifles that don't measure up.

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.

I love my XS7 in .308. I will say it opens up a little bit with Wincherster Super X's but does great with Remington Cor-Lockts.

They're the best deal out there for a new rifle under $500. I haven't heard a negative about them yet. I bought a used one in 30/06. It shot 3/4" groups the second time out with no fiddling whatsoever.

Got an XL-7 in 270, and it is a tack driver with a couple of different handloads I have tried in it. Got more in the glass on it than the rifle. I use it more than the high dollar Montana's I have. It is a great gun.

I was going through Lewiston,Idaho yesterday (Saturday) and Lolo Sporting Goods was having a celebration of some kind. They had a signup to win a Marlin in 30-06, so I put my name in the box. I'm sure I'll win it, and then I can tell you all about them. Too bad it's righthanded, and I'm not.
Yeah, right. I never win anything. grin

I saw a movie where only the military and the police had guns. It was called Schindler's List.
